Junior Golf

Junior Academy

The Idle Hour Golf Learning Center uses the Operation 36® framework to structure the program. It consists of Coaching, Playing, and Training programs and is designed to teach golfers to play the game from a “hole out” perspective. Each golfer will be issued a profile in the Operation 36® Mobile App to track progress through a 6 level curriculum that is designed to set appropriate objectives for the 12 essential golf skills and challenge each student towards shooting par or better (score of 36) for 9 holes.

Learn The Game
Juniors will learn the game in a weekly group class where our coaches will progress students through the 6 level Operation 36® curriculum.

Test Your Skills
The Operation 36® Matches challenge golfers to shoot the score of 36 for 9 holes from 6 different yardage divisions on the course.

Test Your Skills
Golfers can accelerate skill development by training alongside a coach who sets up a structured and efficient practice session.

We split our academy into semesters. Once enrolled in a class you hold your spot for the entire semester as well as priority for future semesters. If you would like to drop enrollment your spot may be filled by wait-listed students.

PGA Junior League

PGA Junior League Golf is a fun, social and inclusive opportunity for boys and girls ages 13 and under to learn and enjoy the game of golf. Much like other recreational league sports, participants wear numbered jerseys and play on teams with their friends. Each team is captained by a PGA or LPGA Professional, who serves as the coach and is at the forefront of creating a welcoming environment for all to enjoy the game. PGA Junior League Golf utilizes a popular scramble format that creates a nurturing environment for learning and development - both on and off course.  With more than 2,900 teams and 36,000 participants in 2016 - and Ambassadors like Rory McIlroy and Michelle Wie -  PGA Junior League Golf has wide-ranging appeal for both youth and their parents.

Format & Rules
PGA Junior League Golf is all about the recreational and developmental nature of regular season matches, held between April 1 and July 31! During the course of one game, teams play four 9-hole matches in a popular two-person scramble format, reinforcing the team concept and creating a nurturing environment for learning the game. Coaches can also substitute players every three holes, so that all of the golfers on each team can participate.

PGA Junior League Golf is open to both boys and girls, 13 and under, of all abilities! The recreational nature of the regular season provides opportunities for skill and character development - on and off course - in addition to plenty of opportunities for fun, friends and family engagement with golf.

Following the conclusion of the regular season, the competition really heats up! Beginning in August, 10-player all-star teams are assembled with players from all teams in the league, based upon the final standings.  These all-star teams then compete in sub-regional and regional championships for a chance to earn a spot in the PGA Junior League Golf Championship!
